How the Maina & Mwangi Trust and the Ngemi na Ndũhio Cultural Association (“we”) handle your personal data for NACC 2026, in line with Kenya’s Data Protection Act, 2019.

1. What we collect

When you register we collect your name, title, gender, age category, country of residence, email, phone number, attendance choice, and payment details (M-Pesa/bank transaction reference or confirmation message). For abstracts we collect author names, affiliations, contact details, and the submission content.

2. Why we collect it

To process your registration and payment, grant access to the convention, communicate logistics and updates, review abstracts, and for convention administration and reporting.

3. Lawful basis

We process your data on the basis of your consent (given at registration) and our legitimate interest in organising the convention.

4. Sharing

We do not sell your data. We share it only with service providers necessary to run the convention (e.g. payment verification, email delivery, hosting) and where required by law. Hosting and the database are operated on our behalf under appropriate safeguards.

5. Retention

We retain registration and abstract data for as long as necessary for the convention and reasonable record-keeping, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

6. Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act, 2019 you may request access to, correction, or deletion of your personal data, and may withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.

7. Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with access controls. No method is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
